Gates over Vista versus OS X

Vandaag: Bill Gates over de beschuldigingen dat Vista een schaamteloze kopie van OS X zou zijn. En over de stekelige Apple-commercials. Gates gaf een uitgebreid interview aan Newsweek, waaruit MSNNBC weer een paar highlights oplijn plaatste. Zo wijst Gates er fijntjes op dat Mac OS X inmiddels wel elke dag met een nieuwe veiligheidsinbreuk wordt geconfronteerd: "Nowadays, security guys break the Mac every single day. Every single day, they come out with a total exploit, your machine can be taken over totally. I dare anybody to do that once a month on the Windows machine... We’ve done some dramatic things to improve security in the code base. Apple hasn’t done any of those things."

Gates claimt dat hij de Apple-commercial over opwaarderen naar Vista, waarin Microsoft fijntjes wordt neergesabeld, nog nooit gezien heeft. Maar hij heeft er wel een mening over: "I've never seen it. I don't think the over 90 percent of the who use Windows PCs think of themselves as dullards, or the kind of klutzes that somebody is trying to say they are." Natuurlijk zijn niet alle Windows-gebruikers lutsers. Dat is ook niet de boodschap die Apple uitdraagt, maar goed. Leest u zelf: het MSNNBC-extract staat hier (Knauwengelswaarschuwing).
